Volunteers from local churches, schools, businesses and community organizations joined KAH-Louisville during the 2015 Mayor's Week of Service - producing more than 63,000 fortified meals.
Participating organizations included: Cub Scout Pack 30, Delta Sigma Theta Alumnee Chapter, Ford UAW, Homecare Homebase, IMC, Kentuckiana Works, Louisville Metro Government, Male High School Special Friends Team, Middletown Christian Church, Our Savior Lutheran Church, Project 1937, Seiller-Waterman, St. Vincent de Paul, and Wellington Elementary School.
In partnership with Supplies Over Seas, Water With Blessings, the Liberian Community of Kentucky & Southern Indiana, and the Concerned Mothers of Liberia, a 40' shipping container is now en route to Liberia, West Africa to provide emergency aid to a region devastated by the Ebola crisis.
In addition to 600 cartons of fortified KAH meals, the shipment contains a significant amount of medical supplies and equipment requested by clinics that have been overwhelmed by the Ebola crisis. Water purifier units will help provide clean water to hundreds of families for years to come. THANK YOU to the many volunteers and community organizations that have helped make this project a success.
During February, 246 volunteers participated in packaging events - pushing the KAH-Louisville grand total past 2.5 million meals! Participating groups included student volunteers from Bellarmine University, the Male HS Special Friends Team, the "Love Louisville" project, and the St. Aloysius Youth.
